Abdo graduated from North Carolina State University (NCSU) with a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with concentration on inverse problems and their applications in seismic and biomedical imaging. In addition to his Ph.D., he earned two Master's degrees, one in Applied Mathematics from NCSU, and the other in Structural Engineering from Cairo University. He joined UTIG in September 2023 where works with Dr. Mrinal K. Sen on developing advanced methodologies to quantify uncertainties in geophysical full waveform inversion. Abdo's research interests are computational imaging, image reconstruction, numerical optimization and uncertainty quantification.
Areas of Expertise
My research expertise lies in the intersection between applied mathematics, mechanics, and computational sciences. Specifically, I am actively conducting research in developing efficient methodologies for seismic full-waveform inversion. Also, I am actively developing efficient framework for soft tissue imaging which shares similar principles as those of seismic imaging.
