The Bureau of Economic Geology operates a variety of advanced multidisciplinary research laboratories with extensive capabilities. These include the Applied Geodynamics Physical Modeling Lab, Core Sawing and Processing, Experimental Fracture Diagenesis Lab, Fluid Inclusion Microscopy and Microthermometry Lab, Inorganic and Stable Isotope Geochemistry Lab, Micro-Model Lab, Soil Characterization Lab, Nanogeosciences Lab and Nano-Metrology (VSM) Lab.

State-of-the-art science resources available to research staff and students at the University of Texas Institute for Geophysics include land, marine and airborne geophysical instruments, analytical labs and equipment, and advanced computational resources. The Institute also owns and operates the R/V Scott Petty, a 26 foot expeditionary science vessel. Researchers are supported by a team of engineering scientists who develop, maintain and help deploy the Institute’s many science resources.
