Admissions
Thank you for your interest in the Jackson School of Geosciences. If you are a current high school student who hopes to join the Jackson School as an incoming freshman, select one of our majors on your application to The University of Texas at Austin. Additional application information can be found on the UT Office of Admissions website.
Undergraduate students who are already enrolled at The University of Texas at Austin may enter the Jackson School through an internal transfer process which occurs twice a year. Please visit the Jackson School’s Internal Transfers webpage for details about the internal transfer process, deadlines, and upcoming information session dates to learn more about our school and programs.
Entrance to the Jackson School as an undergraduate follows standard UT procedures as outlined in the UT Austin General Information and Undergraduate Catalog.
How to Visit and Connect with the Jackson School
The Jackson School of Geosciences encourages high school and transfer students to connect with us virtually or on campus at any point during the year. To coordinate a campus visit or speak with us directly about your goals and interests, please email us at geoundergrad@jsg.utexas.edu. A member of our student services staff will reach out shortly thereafter. We also encourage you to check out our calendar of scheduled events where our monthly information sessions are posted. Parents are also encouraged and welcome to attend campus events and visits. The UT Office of Admissions holds events and tours for prospective students throughout the year as well. Registration information can be found on their website.
Current UT students should connect with our office by calling (512) 232-4545 or emailing Geo_Advising@jsg.utexas.edu, or attend an internal transfer information session.
