American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) Student Chapter

The Longhorn American Association of Petroleum Geologists chapter at the University of Texas at Austin was established to engage the members of the geoscience and petroleum engineering communities on campus. Today as a club we provide opportunities for members to learn about new and ongoing research, interact with those working in the industry, gain new skills, and grow their personal networks.

Graduate Student Executive Committee (GSEC)

The Jackson School of Geosciences Graduate Student Executive Committee (GSEC) represents the graduate students within the JSG. Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) Student Chapter

Society of Exploration Geophysicists is a student run organization for geophysics students at the University of Texas at Austin. We also serve as the UT Society of Exploration Geophysicists student chapter. We are an organization dedicated to fostering communication and collaboration among geophysicists at UT, connecting our students with current work done in and outside of academia, and promoting science in the community. We organize technical seminars, social events for students, and volunteer events around Austin. We also support student attendance at the SEG conference each year. It’s a great way to meet other students and to make connections with professional geophysicists in academia and industry! Hook ’em horns!

Our purpose is to prepare Asian heritage scientists and engineers for success in the global business world, to celebrate diversity and participate socially on campus, and to provide opportunities for members to make contributions to their local communities. At core, we are an equally social and professional organization for students to be involved on campus.

Black Graduate Student Association

The Black Graduate Student Association (BGSA) is an interdisciplinary organization that aims to empower and provide support to Black graduate students at the University of Texas at Austin. Through academic programming, professional development, community engagement, and social events, BGSA addresses the needs of Black graduate students while also serving as a safe space for learning and discussion. We recognize the richness and diversity of African and African American cultures, and celebrate the varying expressions of all graduate students on UT’s campus that descend from Africa and the African diaspora. Our goal is to inspire community and collaboration. Students of all majors and backgrounds are welcome.
