Omar Ghattas, chaired professor in the Department of Geological Sciences and director of the Center for Computational Geosciences, joined the Jackson School from Carnegie Mellon University in 2005-06.

As part of our strategic plan from 2007-2010, the Jackson School launched in April 2007 a hiring plan to add 30-35 new faculty and scientists. The majority of the openings are not for specific positions but for multiple hires of highly qualified applicants, at all levels, in any of four thematic areas. The school also seeks exceptional candidates focused on geoscience education.
