Mailcode: E0630
Dr. Osareni (Chris) Ogiesoba is a Research Associate Professor with the Bureau of Economic Geology State of Texas Advanced Resource Recovery (STARR), Jackson School of Geosciences, The University of Texas at Austin, where he leads Seismic Diffraction Image Data interpretation and Seismic Multi-attribute-based rock property prediction. He pioneered the use of Seismic Multi-attributes analysis in the prediction of total organic carbon (TOC). Prior to joining the Bureau in 2007, Dr. Ogiesoba worked for Mobil for 19.5 years and was instrumental in the discovery of more than 1 billion bbls of oil. In 2003, he pioneered a prestack velocity ratios (Vp/Vs) extraction from Multi-component Converted Wave Seismic Data. He also developed a prestack method of simultaneously extracting anisotropic parameter ether and Vp/Vs from P-wave seismic data by combining Velocity Analysis and Seismic Inversion procedures.
His research focuses on Seismic Extraction of Rock Physical Properties for Reservoir Characterization, Seismic Processing and Interpretation, Prospect Generation, Depositional Systems and Vp/Vs Ratios Extraction. He holds a Ph.D. in Earth and Planetary Sciences from McGill University 2007, M.S. in Applied Seismology from University of Calgary 2004, M.S. in Geophysics from Imperial College London, UK 1983, and B.S. in Geology from University of Benin, Nigeria, 1979. He is a member of SEG and AAPG.
