I am studying suspended sediment transport in deep river systems in coastal Louisiana. Specifically, I would like to understand suspended sediment partitioning where the Atchafalaya River intersects with Grand Lake, upstream of the Wax Lake Delta. I am seeking to determine if suspended sediment partitioning at this bifurcation is controlled by the degree to which Grand Lake taps the depth of the main channel of the Atchafalaya River. The information gained in this study will be useful in optimizing the design of manmade diversions for land-building purposes
