Career Center Digest | November 17, 2015
Thanks again for all the student support shown to our Undergraduate Externship Program. The host sites were brimming the first week the application went live so clearly this is a popular experiential program, and where we as a career center can focus more of our efforts for you. The extern program will take place during the winter break, January 11th through the 14th. During this time, each employer host has chosen a day, or a half day, for students to spend time with professionals in the workplace and observe their day to day activities. Another externship opportunity is in the works along with employer site visits this upcoming spring semester.

Rest assured knowing you will answer with confidence when you read up and share share the Bureau of Labor Statistics projected career outlook for a Geoscientist or Hydrologist. These career fields, along with other related ones, are expected to grow faster than average for all occupations. The need for energy, environmental protection, and responsible land and resource management is projected to increase demand for geoscientists in the future. If you’re aiming to become an Environmental Scientist, then the outlook is even better. We wish you safe and restful break.
