Recruiting Outside the Career Fair
Thank you for your interest in connecting with students from the Jackson School of Geosciences. Below you’ll find general information for companies looking to recruit outside of the career fair through other engagement opportunities.
Annual Events
Texas Geosciences Career Fair (Fall only): A premier recruiting event for geoscience students at UT Austin, connecting them with employers from energy, environmental, and geotechnical industries for job and internship opportunities.
Industry Night (Spring only): A networking event that brings together geoscience students and industry professionals to discuss career paths, industry trends, and job opportunities in a more informal setting.
UT-Austin Quant Night (Fall and Spring): A biannual event where graduate students with strong quantitative skills explore career opportunities in data science, finance, energy analytics, and other industries that value quantitative expertise.
Custom Employer Engagement Opportunities
Lobby Day / Jackson School Employer Spotlight
Connect with students in the Holland Family Student Center during peak hours (11 AM–2 PM).
Engage with students between class changes in an informal setting.
Company Information Sessions
Held in the evening (recommended start time: 5 PM, duration: ~1 hour).
Employers are responsible for refreshments if desired.
Daytime sessions tend to have lower student attendance.
Mock Interviews, Informational Interviews, & Coffee Chats
Scheduled between 9 AM–3 PM.
A great way to connect with students in a casual, low-pressure setting.
Externship Host
Host your company as a site for students to visit for a day or half a day.
Happens during student’s winter break.
