Honoring the Achievements of Our Alumni and Friends
November 11, 2024
In this issue, we’re launching a new feature to recognize and celebrate the achievements of our Jackson School of Geosciences alumni and friends. From career milestones to special honors, we are proud of the many ways our graduates and supporters continue to make a difference in their fields and communities.
Cristopher Marshall (B.S. Geophysics, 1997)
Cristopher has dedicated nearly three decades to educating the next generation of geoscientists. Now in his 27th year of teaching Earth/Space Science at the high school level, he has inspired countless students with his passion for the subject. Recently recognized as Teacher of the Year on his campus, he continues to make an incredible impact. It has been, as he puts it, “an amazing ride”—one that shows no signs of slowing down.
Marcy Davis (M.S., 2001)
Marcy was honored with the Jackson School Staff Excellence Award in 2023, recognizing her outstanding contributions to the school. This accolade adds to a series of achievements, including the 20-Year Staff Service Award from UT in 2022, the Eleanor Picard Service Award from UTIG in 2021, and a nomination for the Hamilton Book Awards in 2019. Marcy’s unwavering dedication to the Jackson School community continues to make a lasting impact, and we are proud to celebrate her many accomplishments.
Max Daniller-Varghese (Ph.D., 2019)
Max, the current President of the Jackson School Friends and Alumni Network (FANs), recently took on a new role as a research associate at the University of Texas Center for Space Research. After gaining valuable industry experience, he is now back in academia contributing to cutting-edge research. We look forward to seeing his continued impact both in his role with FANs and in the research community.
These accomplishments are just a glimpse of the incredible work being done by our alumni and friends. Stay tuned for more spotlights, and let us know if you have achievements to share by filling out the form here. We would love to celebrate with you!
