GeoFORCE Texas Leader Wins Pinnacle Award

Leah TurnerThe Jackson School of Geosciences’ Leah Turner is the recipient of the 2024 Women in Energy Pinnacle Award, which recognizes female leaders who have broken boundaries and opened doors for future female leaders.

Turner leads the Jackson School’s GeoFORCE Texas outreach program and other initiatives to help students succeed in STEM majors and careers. GeoFORCE works with  communities in Austin, Houston and Southwest Texas to develop the next generation of leaders in STEM and geosciences.

“I am truly honored to be named the 2024 Women in Energy Pinnacle Award Recipient,” Turner said. “I am one hundred percent dedicated to developing the next generation of leaders in energy and forever grateful to the Jackson School of Geosciences at The University of Texas at Austin for supporting my leadership of GeoFORCE Texas. I’d also like to thank SLB and Hart Energy for this recognition. It’s a testimony to the work of our entire team.”

Turner, who joined the Jackson School in 2018, earned a doctorate degree in higher education from Ohio University as a Southern Regional Education Board Doctoral Scholar. She will receive the award on March 8, International Women’s Day, at Hart Energy’s Influential Women in Energy Luncheon in Houston. The award is presented by the global technology company SLB.
