Jackson School Alumni Volunteer at Houston Food Bank for Third Annual Service Day

Houston Food Bank '26

Members of the Jackson School Friends and Alumni Network (FANs) in Houston gathered for their third annual volunteer day at the Houston Food Bank, continuing a growing tradition of service in the local community.

Nineteen Jackson School alumni and friends joined other volunteers to help sort and package food. Over the course of the morning, the group bagged, boxed, and stacked 16,460 pounds of pinto beans—enough to help provide 13,866 meals for families across the Houston area.

The volunteer event has become a highlight of the Houston Jackson School FAN calendar, offering alumni an opportunity to reconnect while contributing to an important community effort.

The event was organized by Houston FANs board member Patricia Ascanio-Pellon, with support from local board leaders Sam Shrull (president), Thomas Etzel (president-elect), and Katherine Garcia (chapter director). Jackson School volunteers included Dan Horodecky, Kathryn Young, David Tang, Duane Williams, and Kylie Wright, along with other alumni and friends of the school.
