UT Alumni Night at the Houston Geological Society, in partnership with the Jackson School Friends and Alumni Houston Chapter

K SmyeJoin fellow Longhorn geoscientists for UT Alumni Night at the Houston Geological Society’s April General Dinner, featuring Dr. Katie Smye of The University of Texas at Austin’s Center for Injection and Seismicity Research.

Drawing on lessons from the Permian Basin, Dr. Smye will discuss how large-scale fluid injection is reshaping subsurface pressure and stress systems, influencing seismicity, surface uplift, and other geomechanical challenges. Her talk will highlight how integrated geologic and engineering data can help manage injection safely and inform practices in energy basins around the world.
