Community, Spirit, and Longhorn Pride

Dsc 5352 (1)It was an early start on Saturday, November 1, but that didn’t stop a great crowd from gathering at the Jackson School Tailgate before the 11:00 a.m. UT vs. Vanderbilt game. Alumni, friends, students, faculty, and staff came together to enjoy the crisp fall weather, reconnect, and get fired up for the Longhorns.

Fans and students kicked off the day with breakfast tacos and beverages from Peach Tortilla, plus cookies from Haley Cakes and Cookies that definitely stole the show. We are especially grateful to Tito’s Handmade Vodka for sponsoring the event and to our student volunteers who helped make everything run smoothly. These gatherings take teamwork, and we appreciate every helping hand.

This tailgate was especially meaningful as it marked Dean Mora’s final one. She shared heartfelt reflections about what an honor it has been to serve as dean, highlighting record-high enrollment and celebrating our school’s greatest strength: a passionate community whose work in the geosciences is shaping solutions and discoveries across our world.

And speaking of impact, thanks to the incredible support of our alumni and friends, the Jackson School has already surpassed its $110 million campaign goal, raising more than $160 million with nearly a year still to go. Every gift matters, and this milestone reflects the collective power of our community.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the fun and festivities. We look forward to seeing you at the next one. Hook ’em!
