GeoStories: A 20th Anniversary Tribute to Our Community

Geostories

As part of the Jackson School’s 20th Anniversary Celebration, we launched GeoStories, a project that highlights the voices and moments that make our community so special. Through personal memories, pivotal discoveries, and the connections forged along the way, GeoStories captures the spirit of the Jackson School from the people who know it best.

Hear UTCT Research Science Associate Jessie Maisano recount how the skeleton of Lucy, the world’s most famous fossil, was transported under wraps to the Jackson School’s high-resolution scanning lab. Or listen to alumni Erin (MS ’12) and Ben (PhD ’14) Byerly as they trace their journey from field camps and airports to a shared life and one unforgettable lodestone.

These are just a few of the stories that bring our history to life. Explore more at:
GeoStories – Jackson School of Geosciences

GeoStories will live on as an ongoing project, and we’ll continue adding new voices and perspectives over time.

Have a story to share? We’d love to hear it. Whether it’s a memorable field experience, a mentor who made a difference, or the moment you found your path in the geosciences, your story matters. Reach out to Communications Director Anton Caputo to learn how you can contribute.

Thank you to everyone who helped launch GeoStories, and to all who will help it grow in the years to come.
