Commencement 2025: Congratulations, Grads!
May 30, 2025
Graduation marks more than the end of coursework — it’s the beginning of new possibilities. At this year’s ceremony, Dean Claudia Mora reminded us with warmth and humor that while there may still be “many more tests in life,” our graduates are ready for them. She praised the faculty as “the beating heart of this university” and thanked the families whose support helped bring each student to this moment.
Her message to the Class of 2025 was clear: trust in your education, your resilience, and your ability to shape the future — you’ve already aced the first big test. As earth scientists, your knowledge and perspective will be essential in meeting the world’s most pressing challenges. We hope you carry what you’ve learned here forward, using it to make a difference in the world we all share.
After the ceremony, the celebration continued with refreshments, hugs, and plenty of photos in the Santa Rita Room in the Texas Union — a joyful end to an unforgettable chapter. Hook ’em!
