We hire summer staff and volunteers yearly to support our extensive summer program.

GeoFORCE Trail Driver – Trail Driver Position Description
$20/hr
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and a valid driver’s license.
GeoFORCE Instructor – Instructor Position Description
$40/hr
Minimum qualifications: Two or more years of post-Baccalaureate education in geoscience or a related field.
Preferred qualifications: Ph.D. in geoscience or geoscience education.
GeoFORCE Educational Coach (EC) – Educational Coach Position Description
$25/hr
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in education, STEM education, or a STEM field.
Preferred qualifications: Middle or high school classroom teaching experience.
GeoFORCE Research Counselor (12th Grade)
$20/hr
Minimum qualifications: Currently enrolled or recent graduate of a 4-year college or university.
Preferred qualifications: Lifeguard certification | Bachelor’s degree in STEM or a STEM education field | Texas Driver’s License
GeoFORCE Field Counselor (9th – 11th Grade) – Field Counselor Position Description
$20/hr
Minimum qualifications: Currently enrolled or recent graduate of a 4-year college or university.
Preferred qualifications: Lifeguard certification | Bachelor’s degree in STEM or a STEM education field.
GeoFORCE Professional Mentor (Volunteer)
We are seeking professional geoscientists and engineers to join our academy program and mentor students throughout the week, including a presentation on your career and path to get there.
GeoFORCE Alumni Mentor (Volunteer)
We are seeking graduates of the GeoFORCE Program pursuing graduate school or in their early careers to join our academy program and mentor students throughout the week, including a presentation on college and career options.

Before Applying, please consider the following:
- Your current or summer employer, grant-funding agency, academic advisor, and/or concurrent summer educational/research program must allow you to participate.
- You must be legally allowed to work for The University of Texas at Austin.
- GeoFORCE will not pay overtime for staff who work more than 40 hrs/week as a result of concurrent positions through The University of Texas.
- A resume or CV is required for all staff applications.
- Short answer questions will be asked in lieu of a cover letter or formal interview.
- Please know your summer availability before applying.
- You may volunteer for ANY summer position with GeoFORCE Texas.
- As a volunteer, your deferred pay is considered an in-kind donation to the program and will be matched.
- Volunteer employees will have travel, lodging, and food paid for.

Applications are due for all positions except volunteer mentors by Monday, January 3rd, 2023. Successful applicants notified by February 1st, 2023.
NOTE: To protect the integrity of the application process and prestige of the GeoFORCE Texas program, review, evaluation, and rank of applications will be a “blind” process (i.e. without demographic info or volunteer/paid indicators). Per UT Youth Protection Program regulations, selection and academy appointment of ECIT and counselor positions will be based on self-identified gender. In effort to promote representation of all races and genders, the hiring committee will prioritize availability and diversity during the academy appointment process for all positions.
