The deadlines for these opportunities have passed for this season, however, these internships occur every year and you should be on the lookout for them!

Scientists in Parks – National Park Service Internships

  • Scientists in Parks (SIP) work in US National Parks over the summer on applied projects that could potentially lead to full-time employments. There is a range of paid STEM positions – including geology, biology, ecology, education, science communication, and more!
  • All applicants must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. legal permanent resident, be 18 years or older, be able to successfully complete and pass federal background check, and not have served 4 previous AmeriCorps terms

Mosaics in Science Internship Program

  • The Mosaics in Science Internship Program connects youth to careers in natural resources! Each position offers a unique opportunity to work side-by-side with park professionals. There is a wide range of STEM and STEM communication internships available. All opportunities are paid, summer long internships.
  • All applicants must be US Citizens or legal residents and be age 18 – 30, or up to 35 if a veteran

GeoCorps America Internships

  • GeoCorps America offers paid, short-term geoscience opportunities in locations all across the country! Topic areas include geology, hydrology, paleontology, mapping and GIS, minerals, soils, glaciology, geohazards, karst, education, and interpretation. 
  • All applicants must be at least 18 years old by the time they plan to participate, be either a U.S. citizen or U.S. legal permanent resident, be able to pass a federal background check and an employment background check from our program’s staffing partner, and possess a valid U.S. driver’s license and a good driving record.

NASA Office of STEM Engagement (OSTEM) Internships

  • NASA’s OSTEM internships are paid and allow high school and college-level students to contribute to agency projects under the guidance of a NASA mentor! This program has a wide range of internships in all areas of STEAM, education, communications, and business.
  • All applicants must be U.S. Citizens and meet a minimum 3.0 GPA requirement. Opportunities are available for high school, undergraduate, and graduate students.
