The Jackson School’s 2021 hydrogeology field camp got to see well drilling in action thanks to alumnus Pat Goodson (B.A. 1984) and his company Geoprojects International. Carrying on a tradition that’s been going on at field camp for 15 years, Goodson lent out a rig and crew to demonstrate the drilling process. Students then characterized the geological material recovered from the well. In recent years, the demonstration has been conducted at the Jackson School White Family Outdoor Learning Center, a 266-acre field site about 25 miles from campus.
“This core is still being analyzed and contributes to both the teaching and research mission of the school,” said Assistant Professor Daniella Rempe. “It’s remarkable how impactful this interaction is for the students. They are always so inspired by the drilling and interaction with Geoprojects’ drillers and Pat.”
