The Midwestern State University Collection

This collection of more than twenty thousand specimens was made principally by the late professor of biology Dr. Walter W. Dalquest (1917-2000). It contains numerous type and figured specimens, and it has formed the basis of many scientific publications.

Following Dr. Dalquest’s retirement, much of the Tertiary portion of his collection was transferred to the Texas Vertebrate Paleontology Collections, while the remainder of the collection was transferred to Texas following his death.
