According to Raimondo et al. (2017), an analysis of an area of 3.8 x 5.4 mm took about 21.5 hours. In our lab, LA-ICP-MS time costs $73/hour. Considering the time it will take to optimize the laser and ICP-MS conditions and conduct test runs on representative sample garnets, I am estimating no longer than 10 hours of analysis time. This would bring the cost estimate to about $730.
