Research Friday

Research Friday is a new initiative to help undergraduate students at the Jackson School pursue research. Starting in the fall 2019 semester, upper-division courses and labs are no longer scheduled on Friday. This means you get a large block of uninterrupted time to conduct research during normal hours of the week.

Research Friday is intended to be an open day for you to work in labs, travel to field sites, or participate in other activities that help you gain experience or learn about research. Research scientists working with the Bureau of Economic Geology (BEG)Ā and theĀ University of Texas Institute for Geophysics (UTIG)Ā have labs on main campus and the J. J. Pickle Research Campus.

Participation in Research Friday activities is not required; this is an opportunity for you to gain structured experience with supervised research. If you are interested in doing research as an undergraduate student read about some of theĀ current research opportunities available at the Jackson School.
