About Us

The American Association of Petroleum Geologists is a non-profit corporation established in 1917 with the goal of advancing the science of geology, fostering research, promoting new technologies, and inspiring professional conduct and the sharing of ideas. Today, AAPG is made of members from 129 countries spanning the globe. Many of these members started as students, at their local university chapters.

The Longhorn AAPG chapter at the University of Texas at Austin was established to engage the members of the geoscience and petroleum engineering communities on campus. Today as a club we provide opportunities for members to learn about new and ongoing research, interact with those working in the industry, gain new skills, and grow their personal networks.
