Radiocarbon Dating Laboratory
The University of Texas Radiocarbon Dating Laboratory was established in 1960 under the direction of Dr. E. Mott Davis and received its first operating budget from the University in FY 1961-62. The radiocarbon facilities originated out of the Vertebrate Paleontology Laboratory, and in 1961 moved into their own space in Building 21 (now the Modern Osteology Laboratory). Administration of the Radiocarbon Laboratory was reorganized jointly with Vertebrate Paleontology under the directorship of Dr. Ernest Lundelius until the facility was closed in 1998. Archives and records of the University of Texas Radiocarbon Dating Laboratory are housed in the Texas Vertebrate Paleontology Collections and access is provided by Collection Manager Chris Sagebiel.
Dates generated by the Radiocarbon Dating Laboratory were published in the journal Radiocarbon.
