EER Students are able to utilize the Jackson School of Geosciences Career Center as well as other career service centers on campus. Each center has specific requirements and deadlines for recruiters. Check with your graduate coordinator for more information.
EER alumni can be found across the globe— Brazil, China, Colombia, Egypt, Indonesia, Mexico, England, Switzerland, Japan, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Australia—working in multinational petroleum companies, consulting firms, mining and exploration firms, research institutes, utilities, environmental groups, and in all levels of government agencies.
For over thirty years, our graduates have accepted opportunities with companies including AECOM, Anadarko, BP, Calpine, Chevron, CNH, PEMEX, ConocoPhillips, GDF Suez, IHS, Korea Gas Corporation, KPMG, NRG Energy, Petrobras, Shell, Total, Schlumberger, Wood Mackenzie, World Bank, and US agencies including EPA, Department of Energy, and NREL to name a few. The diversity in employment is entirely consistent with the broad and multidisciplinary preparation EER students receive in Austin.
With close proximity to Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas, EER students find professional conferences and workshops related to energy and environmental issues at their doorsteps. Professional development and networking is part of the EER experience. Students participate in AGU, AAPG, and USAEE conferences with the guidance of leading faculty members.
