2nd Annual Jackson School Student Research Symposium
Each February, Jackson School students present their research in a day-long poster competition. Throughout the day, judges comprised of faculty, research scientists, and industry representatives evaluate the posters. At the closing ceremony, 1st- and 2nd-place poster awards are presented in the following categories: Undergraduate, Early-Career Graduate, Late-Career Masters, and Late-Career Ph.D. Another award is given to the best represented research group(s). The goal of the Symposium is to provide cross-disciplinary collaboration among graduate students, undergraduate students, and faculty/research scientists at the Jackson School.

| Who: | Graduate and undergraduate student presenters, faculty/research scientist judges, open to all other attendees |
| Goals: | This event aims to provide cross-disciplinary collaboration among graduate students, undergraduate students, and faculty/research scientists |
| Format: | Presentations will be in AGU-style poster format; judging will occur throughout the day and students will have a session during which they need to be at their posters for judging |
| Schedule: | 8:30 a.m. — student poster setup with breakfast/coffee 9:00 a.m. — morning poster session 11:30 a.m. — lunch, poster change 1:00 p.m. — afternoon poster session 3:30 pm — happy hour 4:00 pm — awards |
| Awards: | Cash prizes will be awarded to 1st- and 2nd-place winners in the Undergraduate, Early-Career Graduate, Late-Career Masters, and Late-Career PhD categories. A dinner will be awarded to the Best Represented Research Group(s).
There will also be a raffle for 2 free field trip registrations and 1 free social event registration for 2 to the GSA South Central meeting, to be held in Austin on April 4-5. See the awards page for more details. |
