Geosciences Hackathon

Hackathon

The Jackson School of Geosciences Hackathon is an annual event that convenes students, researchers, and faculty members to hone their skills in computer programming and the geosciences, all for the fun of friendly competition (and monetary prizes).

Over the course of three days, hackers will develop software programming skills, contribute to open-source projects, solve complex problems, tap into their creativity, collaborate and network.

Undergraduate and graduate students join together to form teams, and under the guidance of a faculty mentor, put their heads together to solve a complex computational problem in the realm of the geosciences.

At the end of the event, the teams make their final presentations, and judges analyze the projects and coding to declare a winner.

This page will be updated when event dates are finalized.

The Geosciences Hackathon is made possible by the UT Open-Source Program Office and the following sponsors.
