Biography

Our project team is composed of two budding geochemists seeking to understand cave and critical zone processes that impact speleothem growth. Both members have experience working in laboratories for chemical analysis of environmental samples, and have skills that can provide a base for future growth under Dr. Nathan Miller.

Janelle is a first-year Ph.D. student with experience studying chemical and physical processes in karst aquifers to downstream riparian and coastal ecosystems. He is interested in using stalagmite paleoenvironmental tracers to better understand past climate in the central Texas region to drive better management and policy decisions regarding water use.

Kegerreis is a second-year undergraduate student with experience studying water quantity and quality parameters in stream and cave systems. She is interested in using chemical analysis of drip water to understand karst processes and hydrologic changes over time and how they can be applied to modern natural resource challenges.
