University of Texas at Austin

Cleo

My name is Cleo and I am originally from Taiwan but I moved to Texas in 2017. I am interested in all things ocean and coastal. I am currently doing research in the Matheny Ecohydrology Lab at UT Austin focusing on mangroves. I really like watching shows, crocheting, making puzzles, and one of my hobbies is scuba diving. I hope that we will be able to explore the Port Antonio and learn more about the local culture and how we can work with the community to preserve their natural areas. I also hope that I will have the opportunity to get to know everyone and become friends.

Gabriel

I’m Gabriel, a Nashville native whose goal is to become a wildlife conservationist. I’m in my fourth year of my undergrad degree with plans to graduate in December. My research interests would be human-wildlife interactions and the effects of urbanization on wildlife. I did a research project in Costa Rica about vigilance levels in the Collared Peccary in a protected wildlife area versus areas with heavy human traffic. My hobbies include going out on hikes and walks at local parks, reading graphic novels, playing video games, and going to concerts. My hopes for this program is to learn new research techniques and new programs. I also want to improve my wildlife identification skills.
