Biography

Vivian Yale is a hydrogeology masters student at the University of Texas at Austin in the Jackson School of Geosciences. She has always had a passion for nature and resource preservation, and discovered an interest in chemistry while taking an undergraduate organic chemistry class.
Her Masters project combines these interests by characterizing geochemical processes that govern groundwater and surface water chemistry in the Hill Country of Central Texas (Mirasol Springs), an area that eventually will be developed. Using ICP-MS, in part, she seeks to establish a pre-development baseline of water chemistry, that may be useful for contrasting anthropogenic impacts of subsequent urbanization.
