Dr. Hosseini is a Senior Research Scientist in the Bureau of Economic Geology, Jackson School of Geosciences at the University of Texas at Austin. He received his PhD in Petroleum Engineering  from the University of Tulsa, Oklahoma and did his post-doctoral research in the Department of Petroleum Engineering at Texas A&M University. He is currently working at the Bureau of Economic Geology, an interdisciplinary team of research geologists and engineers who conduct  research focusing on the intersection of energy, the environment, and the economy.

Dr. Hosseini leads a research group, named Modeling Underground Fluid Transport (MUFT). Strong collaborations exist between MUFT and other research groups at UT and other universities, and U.S. Department of Energy national technology laboratories. The research studies at MUFT are at the interface between reservoir engineering, geology, data science and environmental science.  Key topics of research are reservoir fluid flow modeling and simulations in conventional and unconventional formations including primary, pore-scale modeling and simulation of multiphase flow in porous media and EOR operations with various focuses including history matching, optimization algorithms, regional geomechanics and machine learning  related to oil and gas production and salt water disposal.

Present and past support from the following agencies is gratefully acknowledged!
