Glynis Morse is the Assistant to Dean Barron. She runs his office, plans his travel, and coordinates his calendar. Glynis manages the Dean's office staff.

As the receptionist for the Dean’s Office Lauren Darcy greets visitors and guests, answers incoming phone calls, and schedules appointments in the Jackson Conference Room.

As an acting assistant to Glynis Morse, Lauren assists with the coordination of meetings and events. Lauren maintains the Jackson School’s merchandise and provide general office upkeep.

Outreach & Diversity


Doug Ratcliff

Doug Ratcliff is the Director of Outreach Programs. He is responsible for coordinating the School’s outreach programs and for direct supervision of GeoFORCE Texas. GeoFORCE is designed to encourage middle- and high-school students from southwest Texas to take on the challenges of a rigorous math and science curriculum and pursue higher education in these fields.

Ratcliff is also responsible for international outreach including the School’s Latin American Forum. The Forum brings select leaders and decision makers together from the Americas for the purpose of developing a strategy for collaboratively addressing issues of importance associated with energy resources and the environment.

As coordinator of one of the largest minority targeting geosciences pipeline program in the nation, Julie Spink is making a difference in the lives of students in rural Southwest Texas communities.

Spink also plans nation-wide field trips to outstanding sites of geological interest and coordinates the JSG’s efforts for the largest open house in Texas – Explore UT.

Horton also coordinates the summer programs for GeoFORCE Houston and accompanies the students on trips. Her background includes a Bachelor's of Science in Geosciences, a Master's in Education, experience teaching middle-school and high-school science (physics, chemistry, biology) in Louisiana and California, and outreach efforts with the Math Engineering Science Achievement (MESA) academic enrichment program of the University of California.

Danielle Horton assists the Director for Outreach Programs with grant writing and fundraising for GeoFORCE, creates and manages Outreach Program databases, participates in geoscience education outreach at the state and national level, and coordinates and presents at GeoFORCE Educator Workshops.

Cristina Rodriguez coordinates all logistics for Math, Science, Engineering Academy (MSEA) events hosted by the Jackson School, including reserving Jester Dormitory rooms and meals, arranging transportation to and from all events, scheduling campus tours, capitol tours, and field trips to geological sites.

Rodriguez also coordinate presentations given by TXMM paleontologists, corporate sponsors, and current students. She purchases all supplies for these events,as well as preparing and submitting all required UT documents.

Royalty Management


Luciano Correa

Luciano Correa is responsible for managing all the royalty assets of the Jackson School of Geosciences.

Correa designs, implements, and maintains a comprehensive Geographic Information System (GIS) for oil and gas royalty assets managed by the Geology Foundation. The portfolio includes more than 1,300 oil and gas wells.

He performs continuous analysis of production trends represented by royalty payments made to the Foundation including market forecast, decline curves analysis, impact of price on production and revenues, and distribution of revenues across various products (oil, gas, derivatives).

Correa provides periodic reports to the management with analytical tools to evaluate the state of the assets including comparison of production, regional prices, and current financial instrument trends.

He is also responsible for investigating permit applications in the region, processing all division orders including legal descriptions and royalty ownership, placing well spots into the GIS system and maintaining documentation of leases and all legal documents associated to ownership.

Additionally, he fulfills research and analysis of exploration trends in the region including new well activity and completion technologies, and prepares ad-hoc reports as assigned by the director as business requirements provide the opportunity.

Correa also prepares General Statistical Analysis of geological and engineering data set for different energy projects, economic evaluation, simulation and modeling of Oil and Gas prospects.

Communications

The communications team represents to the outside world the accomplishments, goals, ideas, and impact of the Jackson School of Geosciences. In addition to our Jackson School duties, we have an informal reporting line to Don Hale, the university’s vice president of public affairs. We work in five main areas: publications, public & media relations, Websites, branding, and internal communications.

Marc Airhart is our main science writer and author of many of the feature stories on the JSG Web site. He focuses on writing for publications and internal communications, and he manages This Week in Geosciences and the digital information screens.

Phillip spends about half of his time managing content and graphic design updates for the main JSG Web site and the other half on special projects for programs and research groups.

Sheree Courney

Sheree Courney is responsible for financial and HR oversight for the Jackson School. This includes accounting functions, budgets, hotel contracts, appointment approvals, promotion/reclassification approvals, interdepartmental fund transfers and faculty PAR documents. In addition, she is the Jackson School UBOC representative and TxAdmin representative.


Rosalind Gamble

Rosalind prepares voucher documents (VP1, VP2, VPE, etc.) and IDTs (VT1, VT2, VT5 and VT6), researchs outstanding invoices and contact vendors as necessary.

She serves as procurement officer for the Dean's Office (contacts vendors, obtain bids and create purchase orders), and creates prior approval documents for independent contractors/casual employees (APS/PBS) as requested by members of the Dean's Office.

Rosalind also develops administrative guidelines, procedures, timelines, and reports for JSG Dean's Office in accordance with Administrative Services Officer's specifications. She process appointments, payroll vouchers and recruiting documents for the Dean's Office as well as processing SS1 and SS2 documents for JSG Outreach recipients. She maintains the JSG account list database and creates monthly financial reports for members of the Dean's Office.

She also reconciles the Dean's Office accounts using *DEFINE's LMM module, audits the petty cash fund and check log in accordance with university policy. Rosalind also assists Administrative Services Officer with budget preparation and various special projects as assigned.

Randy manages the administrative system to support five search committees created to hire 30-35 new faculty and scientists under the Jackson School’s strategic plan for 2007-2010.

In addition, he assists the Business Affairs and Administration Group Manager in addressing accounting and human resource issues.

Development

The Jackson School Development program works to engage alumni, friends, corporations and foundations to become actively involved, through donations of time, talent and finances, with the Jackson School as we seek to become the preeminent geosciences program in the nation. Elements of the program include the Annual Fund, Alumni Affairs, Corporate and Foundation Relations and Major Gift fundraising.

The Geology Foundation, established in 1953, is the philanthropic arm of the Jackson School. Standing on this solid history, the Jackson School Development Program is proud to bring a comprehensive approach to resource development across the three units of the Jackson School.

Ann Flemings oversees the program and works with alumni and friends to achieve their dreams/passions/goals through philanthropy. She also works with individuals interested in establishing a legacy through their will or estate.

The Friends and Alumni Network (FANs) of the Jackson School brings regional events, tailgates, social gatherings and educational enrichment activities to our friends and alumni. The FANs are working to establish regional clubs to provide direct access to the Jackson School in your area.
