The North Caspian is the region of four of the world's "new giants," oil and gas fields discovered since 2000 that have more than 500 million barrels of ultimately recoverable oil or an equivalent amount of gas: Kashagan, Kalamkas-More, Khvalynskoye, and Rakushechnoye.
