As part of our strategic plan from 2007-2010, in April 2007 the Jackson School
launched a hiring plan to add a substantial number of new faculty and
scientists. In its first year, the initiative was highly successful, drawing
close to 500 applications from researchers and faculty worldwide. As of August
2008, the school hired 10 new faculty, a mix of established leaders and
promising scientists at earlier stages in their careers. Additional hires may
come in the fall of 2008 as a result of the 2007-2008 recruiting.
Because of the success of the 2007-2008 recruiting, the Jackson School is pursuing a more targeted approach to hiring in 2008-2009, shifting our growth efforts from people to programs. In addition to these four thematic hiring areas, the Jackson School is interested in receiving applications from scientists or prospective faculty who work in three emerging cross-cutting themes: To apply in any of these areas, send inquiries and applications (cover letter, CV, list of publications) to: Randal Okumura, Office of the Dean The University of Texas at Austin is an Affirmative Action / Equal Opportunity Employer.
