Hire in Climate System Science (Print Ad, PDF)

The Jackson School of Geosciences continues to expand its program in Climate System Science by seeking an outstanding scientist able to collaborate across disciplines and having expertise in one of the following fields.

  • Carbon Cycle. We seek a scientist who studies the biogeochemical cycles of carbon and nitrogen on a range of spatial and temporal scales. Particular research emphases include studies of the influence of anthropogenic activities on these cycles, global-scale process modeling, and the interaction between these cycles, the climate system, and ecosystems.
  • Ice Sheet Modeling. We seek a scientist who works on the representation of ice sheet and basal processes important to more realistic simulations of ice sheet contributions to future sea level.
  • Physical Oceanography. We seek a scientist who works on quantifying ocean circulation impacts on climate through the use of observations or models to infer fundamental processes important to driving the large-scale circulation.

We are particularly interested in those seeking early to mid-career research scientist positions in either the Bureau of Economic Geology or the Institute for Geophysics. This position is funded by a combination of institutional support/external funding and comes with opportunities to teach. For more information on the school and its hiring program, visit us online at www.jsg.utexas.edu/hiring.

A Ph.D. is required by the time of appointment. To be considered, your application should note the area in which you are applying (this is the title of the specific ad you are responding to) and include a cover letter, CV, list of publications, list of references, statements of research and/or teaching interests, to:
