What We Do: Our Mission

Mission

Teaching in the field The mission of GeoFORCE Texas is to seek out, recognize, and develop science and math skills and foster leadership potential of students at a young age.

Commencing with 9th grade students and working with them through 12th grade, GeoFORCE strives to inspire and motivate students to continue into higher education in a geosciences degree track.

Beliefs

Teaching in the field GeoFORCE Texas believes that the world’s greatest resource is its young people and that the high achievers among them have a need and right to recognition and personal development.


Purpose

The purpose of GeoFORCE Texas The purpose of GeoFORCE Texas is to inspire the next generation of geoscientists, foster increased diversity in the U.S. workforce, and create an increased awareness of the importance of the geosciences in the communities that the program currently serves.

Development is achieved by providing interactive opportunities for critical thinking through hands-on field experience and coursework. GeoFORCE Texas encourages social responsibility among individuals and lays the groundwork for educated decision-making in the future.

Values

GeoFORCE Texas seeks to be a fair and encompassing program GeoFORCE Texas seeks to be a fair and encompassing program that addresses the purpose. It is, by definition, a selective program that commits to a set of consistence criteria that all participants must maintain. Each participant in the week-long academy will be evaluated by a impartial selection committee. Students' personal conduct will be held to standards of the programs throughout the field courses and classroom activities.
