Our Students

GeoFORCE Texas students are an elite group, representing some of the top math and science students in South Texas and Houston.

Students from 18 different South Texas Independent School Districts (ISDs) and 25 different schools in the Houston ISD are provided with applications through their science and math teachers, counselors, and principals. The application process requires students to write a statement showing why they are qualified for the program and demonstrating their interest in science and math.

Each student has to submit their 7th and 8th grade transcripts in order to be considered along with a parental consent form and a statement supporting their application from a science teacher or counselor.

Competition for a spot on the GeoFORCE Texas team is extraordinary and the application process requires substantial effort. For those few dedicated students who submit a complete application and are accepted into the program, an awesome experience awaits.

All of the students taking on the challenge of the GeoFORCE Texas Academy or Young Geoscientists program make the Jackson School of Geosciences, Southwest Texas Junior College, and the South Texas region, and the city of Houston very proud.
