For Pre-Med or Pre-Health Professions
There is a new program starting up at UT’s Medical campus in Galveston called AAPR — it is a mentoring program for students interested in going in to medicine of allied health careers (physical therapy, nursing, etc). There is a summer program, and a school year component. They are recruiting 20 students who are currently college freshmen, and 20 who are sophomores. Here are the qualifications:
US citizen and Texas resident (but you can be going to any college)
Family contribution on FAFSA of <$8000/year OR African American or Hispanic
High school GPA of 2.8 or higher
ACT of 21+ or SAT of 1200+ for Math and Reading scores only
There is no deadline, but they will be accepting people as the applications come in, so apply early in the spring semester.
