What sparked your interest in geology, energy and the environment?

I have relatives in the energy industry who are successful and seem to really enjoy their jobs. They urged me to look into a career in energy and I did.

Why did you choose UT for your studies?

Initially I was attracted by the status of UT's engineering program and because I thought Austin would be a fun place to live and study. I stuck around for my graduate studies because of this program which is pretty unique and because Austin had become my home.

What do you enjoy the most about your studies or research?

There are many fun and interesting people to work with and learn from at UT.

What one research tool could you not live without?

The journal search tools on the UT library webpage are pretty great.

What are your career goals?

To find work where I can be fully engaged, continue to learn and develop my skills, where I feel I'm making a real impact and to have fun.

Where are you from?

Galveston, Texas.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I like to hang out with friends and family, watch movies, read, and spend time outdoors whenever possible.

What is your favorite rock?

I love all rocks equally.

What fun activity would you recommend to an incoming UT student?

Make the trip down to San Marcos and float the river.
