Congratulations and welcome to The University of Texas at Austin, Jackson School of Geosciences!

All new, incoming JSG graduate students will start orientation with a field trip visiting Pedernales Falls, Enchanted Rock, and Inks Lake on a 2-day tour. Attendees will enjoy seeing central Texas and other locations through a geologist’s eyes as well as swimming and an overnight stay at the Thunderbird Lodge on Lake Buchanan before returning to Austin for ongoing graduate orientation events!

Using the checklist below, complete and return the trip form and requested information. This is going to be a great trip and a fun way to meet your fellow students and faculty. We look forward to seeing you soon.

  • Copy of your current medical insurance card (please make sure copy is legible)
  • Copy of your driver’s license or official ID (please make sure copy is legible)

  • Check-In and Breakfast start promptly at 7:00 AM
  • Please arrive on time, buses will leave soon after check-in
  • Possible stops include: Enchanted Rock State Park, Inks Lake State Park & Devil’s Waterhole, Longhorn Caverns, and Pedernales Falls
  • BBQ Dinner & overnight stay at Thunderbird Resort, Lake Buchanan
