Research Interests: Hua Yuan is from Beijing Normal University, China. In 2007, after two years of working at the Graduate School of Beijing Normal University, he began his PhD studying with Prof. Yongjiu Dai. He joined Prof. Dickinson’s group as a visiting scholar in 2010. He is now working on incorporating 3D canopy radiation models into the climate model. In his spare time, he likes playing tennis, Ping-Pong and watching movies.

Research Interests: Wenting’s research interests are land surface modeling and land-atmosphere interaction dynamics.

Research Interests: Ying Sun received her bachelor’s degree in GIS and remote sensing at Beijing Normal University in China and is now a Ph.D. student working with Dr. Dickinson. Her interest is in the impact of extreme weather events and climate variability on terrestrial carbon cycle. She chose the University of Texas because of its excellent resources and it is “a very cool place”.

Research Interests: My past research focuses on quantitative remote sensing of vegetation canopies, including vegetation canopy reflectance model, ecological parameter (LAI, f APAR) retrieval and spatial scaling effect. My current research interest lies in applications of remote sensing in climate models.

Research Interests: During my past studies I have worked on various projects involving LAI, LST, and AOD retrieval methods, spatial scaling effect and validation methodology. Currently, I am researching on the applications of remote sensing in climate model.
